Brentwood firm developing Houston project

The principals of locally based ELS Financial Services have formed a company to develop a medical office complex in the Houston suburb of Pearland.
Spokeswoman for Medical Commons says the group will break ground on The Medical Commons of Pearland in February. The project encompasses two buildings with a total of 90,000 square feet on an 8-acre tract.
Medical Commons has contracted with Nashville-based Surgis Inc. to operate a surgery center there. Surgis has two other Houston locations.
In addition to the center and physician office space, Medical Commons also will include an urgent-care clinic, a diagnostic imaging center and several medical specialties such as family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery and orthopedics.
Pearland officials say the city is in dire need of medical facilities. Located south of Houston, it has 55,000 residents and is adding 2,000 new homes a year.
Led by Eric Sawyer, Brentwood-based ELS also has been involved in the $5 million Athena Health Club and Day Spa in Brentwood and a $4 million medical complex in Smyrna, among other projects.
